What to Do in Kidepo Valley National Park (Uganda)

What to do in Kidepo Valley National Park Uganda include Wildlife viewing, a series of bird species, valley, & Culture. Kidepo Valley harbors scenery that is not in any other parks in East Africa. The park has a semi-arid climate with one rainy season in the months of April – September.

The park has two rivers i.e. Narus River and Kidepo River and the two rivers are seasonal. This means that in the dry season they dry out, as such the only water in the park is in the wetlands and remnant pools along the Narus valley. Stroll along the Kidepo River in the dry season and enjoy its 50m bed of white sand between banks covered by Borassus palm trees. You will be surprised to find heavily flowing rivers during the rainy season, such a unique setting, and a ‘beach’ during the dry season.

Kidepo Valley National Park features unique vegetation as well as two scenic valleys; Valley and Narus. The Kidepo and Narus Rivers are Season Rivers-during the dry season, they dry up and most wildlife are confined in fewer small pools for drinking water. The Narus Valley is one of Kidepo’s iconic points when it comes to game viewing in Kidepo National Park.

It features the vast savanna grassland and exceptional mountain landscape. Beneath the Narus is the Narus River which dries during the dry season and because of its strategic location to Narus Dams which is the only source of water for most wildlife species, it rewards visitors with breathtaking sights over a huge concentration of wildlife species including giraffes, buffaloes, cheetahs, lions, leopards and many more. Kidepo Valley is also ideal for visitors interested in diverse bird species.
